Game Developer Survey Question One: What are your goals for this year?

Here is a summary of the responses to the first question on the game development needs survey I put out. I had 10 responses total.

Question: What are some of the things you want to accomplish this year as a game developer? Some examples: “I would like to publish four polished platformer games and have them reach the top ten of the iTunes App Store.” “I would like to secure funding for one of my games.” Feel free to list as many goals as you’d like; where possible, separate into different paragraphs.What are some of the things you want to accomplish this year as a game developer? 

  • Become a full-time game developer.
  • Increase exposure for games using word of mouth advertising and increasing exposure on social media channels. Facebook and Twitter were listed.
  • Focus game development goals and skills to a specific genre.
  • Release game on multiple platforms.
  • Aim for high product rankings.
  • Secure funding. This is a major concern listed on the responses of several applicants.
  • Release ad-supported free-to-play games.
  • Obtain business license and development licenses.
  • Develop 3D games.
  • Hire more staff to help game development go more smoothly.
  • Have studios in the US and Europe.
  • Improve knowledge and secure more resources.
  • Make more connections in the indie game community to build teams more easily.
  • Run and participate in UK indie gaming sessions at game stores and art centers.
  • Complete pre-existing projects for release.
